Scott, we have Dish also and now that Sirius is aboard, that plus Dish's own music channels, gives you one ..... of a selection of music. Our music is on almost all day..!

Good choice..

Scam

This is a well known scam. Same scenario, different names. There are several posts here on QTH.com regarding this "turkey".

Avoid it like the plague. Since you have different return emails, I would just go to my ISP and set up your options to block him.

FT-101E

My first thought, on a boat, how are you going to power the radio? The 101 series has tubes in the finals, thus you need 115VAC.

Would be better for a 12VDC radio.

Just a couple of thoughts. K4KK pretty well summed up the antenna situation.

Adam, have you queried anyone on the Icom site at QTH.net?

You might also look at the site for Adam, AB7OJ. If you post this on the Icom site, possibly Gary Fibre will give you an idea. Gary used to work for Icom.

Funny Stories..!

It is only going to get better. Heard a guy on 40M (another on 75 and one on 17) who told his contact that if I turned my amp off, he would not be able to hear him very well...! Gee, never knew that if I turned my amp off (don't have one anyway) that my receive would go down..! Sigh..! By the way, t...

Murray, K5MDM: Good Guy

Just completed a swap with Murray on a Ten Tec Omni VI for my 706IIg.

All went well, in spite of the 4th of July Holiday. Murray ate too much..!

Good correspondence with no loose ends. We emailed tracking numbers back and forth.

Rotten FM

OK, I've never owned a Brand Y radio. However, the manual says it is "normal" and narrowband. Who knows what "normal" is, but I bet it is not sufficient for normal broadcast audio. That would be why they sound lousy. They cannot handle the wideband deviation....such is the design. If you demand good...

740 Battery

The 740 has no battery. I have one. It takes an EXTERNAL source for memory capability.

If you have the built in PS-740, then the external 12V is not necessary.

Scott, KK has an excellent idea. I have used it...and it does in fact work like a charm...!!

If more people would just USE the stuff available to them..Google and such, then I firmly believe we would have less problems than some seem to have now..!

Hamer, just like the other sites, it is not required. Scott would like people to use them, but not required. Frank, look up K9STH, Glen in TX. Go to QRZ.com and send him an email. Glen has a "bunch" of Boat Anchors and may well have your answer. You NEVER ground anything like you so state to the AC plug ground. Period. That is against NEC codes. It is preferable to use the station ground which goes to an outside ground rod. When I had my Hamsticks, I used the LDG RT-11 remote tuner. Plugs into the back of the IIg and works just fine. Allows you to change freuqncy within the band and just hit the tune button on the IIg. If you are listening to a conversation on one, and talk on the other, you may, as K4KK has stated you will most likely have some desense to the one receiving. That is just how it is, when you have a strong RF field in relatively close proximity to the other antenna. But, as KK stated, you can only t...
