Thanks for the info. I must be losing it in my old age since the information is available in the manual! [/b]

Harrisburg Hamfest January 15th

Why is it so difficult to get a straight answer on here rather than discussing what constitutes a long trip?

Harrisburg, Pa. Hamfest January 15th...question

Has anyone ever attended the Harrisburg, Pa. Winter hamfest? I have a bad case of cabin fever and would like to attend this hamfest. The distance from my qth is considerable and I was wondering how big this hamfest is and would it be worth traveling 100 miles round trip. Comments...

TS-700 panel bulbs

I had to replace several of the grain of wheat bulbs in my TS-700. I didn't measure the voltage, but just put in a couple of 12 volts bulbs I had in my junk box. They seem to be lighting with the correct intensity and have lasted several years. [/b]

Modular microphone plugs...UGH!!

What is with these modular mic plugs that are so common on mobil rigs these days? They don't seem to be very hardy for mobil use and break very easily. Also, what do you do when you want to use a non standard mic? Are there some kind of converter/adaptors that would allow me to use a standard mic pl...

Wording of classified ads

I have to laugh when I see how some people word their classified ads. One would think they were being charged per word and have to abbreviate everything. How fast do you think you would sell a car by placing an ad such as.."Car for sale..$2000.00" Ofcourse this is a slight exaggeration, but the poin...

Yaesu FL-2100Z value

The Yaesu FL-100b models are currently selling in the range of $350.00 to $400.00 in good working condition. The "Z" model ofcourse is much more desirable because of the 160 meter capability and commands a higher price. I would think $500.00 to $600.00 tops would be a reasonable asking price. Bear i...

Ameritron AMW-30 wattmeter

Actually this meter is swichable between RMS and PEP. What I,am saying is the hang-time of the needle is much too long in the PEP mode.

Ameritron AWM-30 wattmeter modification

I have one of the earlier Ameritron AWM-30 watt/SWR meters. Although the accuracy is not perfect, it does fill my needs nicely and appears to be very well built. The only complaint I have is the VERY slow recovery of the wattmeter in the PEP mode. From the 500 watt position, the meter takes about 40...

PEP power verses RMS power question

I,am a bit confused regarding the claims some amplifier manufacturers make regarding the output of their amplifiers. Perhaps someone can set me straight. I have a Yaesu FL-2100B amp with a pair of 572Bs as the finals. With 100 watts RMS key down input, I,am seeing about 500 watts output with the wat...

Re Converting an unbalanced feedline...

Thanks for your reply. Perhaps I didn't state my problem as clearly as I should have. The endfed antenna connection I wish to run to the autotuner is a single wire, not a 400 ohm ladder lead or coax. This single wire needs to be terminated with a PL-259 in order to be able to run it thru an external...

Converting an unbalanced feedline to a balanced feedline

I,am currently running an unbalanced coax feedline from a G5RV into an MFJ-994 autotuner. The tuner is also capable of tuning a balanced line but you can not have two different antenns connected to this tuner at the same time. My second antenna is an endfed which I would like to be able to switch to...

Foot switch for keying an amp?

I have noticed some people seem to prefer using a foot switch to key an amp instead of having the transmitter key it. Is there some particular reason for this? Just recently picked up an amp and was wondering what the advantage might be.
