I wonder Eric, just what year did you pass the General exam for the first time ?
Do you recall in what year the code requirement was dropped ?

Why does that really matter? I know code and i use it. But code isnt the end all be all of ham radio.

Look up realistic TRC 458 and Robyn SB 520D and you will find they are LEGIT legal 40CH CB rigs. I dont understand WHY seasoned hams have a narrow minded view of the ham hobby. If someone does something out of the norm they get labeled. its no wonder so many get into this hooby only to leave the sam...

First off, KA2CDT is wrong on all accounts. First, i am a coded general being lisenced since 2004, second those CB rigs are stock UNMODDED. I dont risk my lisence by having illegal stuff.... The guy made biased judgements based on false assumptions which is typical of most hams, judging someone and ...

"How interesting. Google a 1x3 ham call. Up pops a list with Youtube links to reviews of various (illegal?) CBs. Yep,just another no code "General" The new Ham-Lite" xxxxxxxxx Those radios are 100% legal!!! Geezz i post up saying i had a good exp with the guy and you guys jump all over me for posti...

Epay-out-the-nose

Ebay is a suckers paradise. I see people buy stuff on there and pay more than its worth all the time. I have gotten a few deals, but they are far and few between. The rule is there is always some idiot that wants the item more than you do, and they are willing and able to bid up as high as possible ...

WD8RYH a good guy.

Bought a set of Drake twins off of Dave, a T4X and a R4B. The set works FB. The R4B works like a champ. The T4X needs an alignment , but thats simple to do.
Overall, im pretty happy.
I'd buy from Dave anytime! :D

Did you ask him to see pics of the radio inside and out? I always ask to see pics. If they balk or tell me the camera is broke or they dont have one thats a deal breaker for me. I like to see what im getting. Its like going on a date. Would you date someone on a blind date? NOT ME!

Give the poor guy a break! Not all of us that are hams are EE's making 150 to 200 grand a year. But i do have a gripe about guys that try to buy dirt cheap then sell on Ebay and make a huge profit. I have had several people respond to my add for my Drake TR-4/AC-4/MS-4 asking if i will take $100.00 ...

Sounds like what that guy tried to do to me with the drake Tr-4/MS-4/AC-4 combo. 100.00 to ship! Yes, he tried to make $$$ off the shipping. A few weeks ago i shipped a Kenwood ts 530s to a ham in Fla. It cost me 32.50 to ship. That was it!

Re: eric is correct

the guy advised him that he found a better deal. based on some of the twisted logic here, you should pay too much for your home, for your new windows, your landscapping, your car, your stereo, your computer, your remodeling! there needs to be a federal law forcing people to pay the highest bidder f...

Well im going to be the real man here and say I WAS THE ONE that backed out of the deal when he said that he was going to charge me 100.00 to ship the rig!!!! Thats nuts!!! The last time i shipped a Drake it cost me around 50.00 to ship all the items. I did find a better deal for $200.00 plus $35.00...
