Answer

Seems to me he gave the buyer the option of returning it for a refund. Looking at the issue from a fairness standpoint, settling a minor issue, such as the case here, by forcing the buyer to pack and ship the entire shipment back and wait for return of funds is inappropriate. The cost in resources ...

Huh?

With all due respect, isn't it true that if one gets "low balled," it is the seller's fault? The seller only gets "low balled" when he ACCEPTS the "low ball" offer! So, if the delivered goods has a defect, the seller can NOT play the I-was-low-balled card. It is not the buyer's fault the seller acce...

The art of scrounging...

For most hams, anything they buy for the hobby is relatively expensive, so hams with little or no "hobby money" are hard pressed to set up and keep a station up and running. Compare this hobby to some others. One does not need to pay hundreds of dollars to buy fishing equipment, unless, of course, a...

Again...

As I have already stated: The seller refused my request to refund. Consider this; perhaps he thought I was being dishonest and had damaged the unit, when I tested it. If so, his suspicion that I was being dishonest caused an issue which causes you to ask me why I did not question his honesty. When d...

Response to W4AIN...

Why do you assume he was dishonest? Being ignorant of how to pack electronic equipment does not make a ham dishonest! Failing to test an item before it is resold, doesn't mean the seller is always dishonest, either. In this particular case, the likely scenario is the seller obtained the item from a...

When PayPal "Protection" doesn't work...

I recently received an item from a ham that arrived with a bent cover due to very poor packing. I removed the damaged cover and repaired the bent portion of the cover and replaced the cover, thinking that was the end of it. The next day I tested the unit and found a band switch with three band posit...

The only A+ (NEW) is still in the domain of the dealer.

Items in a sealed factory box, not remaining in the dealer's domain, are AS NEW, same as EXCELLENT.

Regarding the CONDITION of equipment for sale or trade.

The predominant negative feedback issue centers around the difference of the condition of a trading object as seen by the buyer and the seller. If trading partners are seriously interested in knowing the actual condition of a piece of equipment, the criteria used to grade equipment condition must be...

No monitors needed here!

There is no monitor intervention needed here. What is needed is for some participants to grow up and practice some needed good manners. Which Linear Amp Should I Buy?

I often receive emails or phone calls wanting to know what is the best HF linear amplifier to purchase. Without hesitation, I whole heartily recommend the Collins 30L-1 linear amp. Here is why. · It is a Collins product and is very well designed and superbly manufactured. · The 30L-1 is rated as one...

Per K4ICL.com "Grading Condition" page.

EXCELLENT (Often called "MINT") This grade defines radio equipment that has been sold or donated by a manufacturer and is in the same condition as the equipment was in when it left the factory where manufactured, like new. Approximately 0.5 percent of all equipment will be of this rating. CHARACTERI...
