I would never have given in to threats. It was on him to ask questions, ask for pic's. For him to immediately go on the offensive, should set off a flag right then and there. The man obviously has some issues. You did show that you are the better man for accepting the item back, but not without a le...

To donate, or not to donate??

Over the years, I have gathered up quite a bit of ham radio equipment. Most of it I don't use anymore, ie, (2M ht's, scanners, mobiles). I have often thought about donating some equipment to new, or not so fortunate hams. My problem is, should I post an ad, wanting to donate to a new or needy ham, h...

This is the forum part of this site. There is nothing wrong with the author, and others stating how they feel about the prices of used equipment. If this venting makes them feel better, all the better.

"Trading in person puts a massive limit on how much you can actually achieve". I am not sure exactly what you mean, but by trading in person, one can get a good, "feel", on what the other person is like. Example, does the person look you in the eye when talking about the equipment that he is selling...

I will type up a list of my equipment, describing what the item is, condition, and what price is the most reasonable selling price that will most likely result in a sale of my equipment. I will also have pic's of my equipment already on the computer to assist in the selling. It will also include wha...

I shipped a radio out yesterday, using Fed-Ex. I asked if there is any insurance on items shipped, and I was told that there is $100.00 worth of insurance without any charge. 73

I might add that I am not talking about the brightness of the main display. I know that is adjustable. One would think that the back-lit buttons on both the radio and the mic would also adjust accordingly.

ICOM IC-V-8000 Backlight Brightness?

I just recently picked up an Icom V-8000. The first thing that I noticed is that the backlit buttons on both the radio and the mic aren't very bright. They aren't even bright enough to read what is on them. I was wondering if this is common with this radio? I bought this radio new, but the original ...

Don, thanks, for you input. I am not talking about placing an ad under different categories. I clicked on the, "ads placed today". There were multiple, identical listings,(4 one day, and 3 the next), one right after the other. This was two days in a row, so I don't think that it was just someone wit...

Well, to back up my theory, I recently saw an ad for a tower for sale. It was posted 3 times in a row. Slow internet service? I don't think so because the very next day, the exact same ad, and yes, 3 times in a row. Coincidence, I don't think so in this case. Possible, but I doubt it. :o)

I don't see a problem asking for more pictures at any point of the transaction. If hundreds of dollars are at stake, new pic's could be the deciding factor for the buyer. If that is all that it would take for someone to pull the ad, quit the e-mails, etc, then it is probably for the best. If it smel...

I guess one could just consider the higher prices as a, "Buy It Now", price. If you want the item bad enough, you can opt to pay the asking price. If not, wait and make a lesser offer, or look somewhere else. Some equipment just holds it's value better than others. Case in point, the Yaesu FT-1500M,...

This probably could have been avoided if you had agreed to pay the asking price of $31.00. Would one more dollar have left you indigent? I think not. It probably left a sour taste in his mouth. Come to think of it, many hams are very cheap when buying, but want top dollar when selling. :o) Time to l...

I will agree that not all multiple posts are intentional, but I think that there are those that are. I, as recently as last year, had a dial-up connection, and I never had any delays, to where I would keep hitting the submit button. I realize that everyone's situation is different though. It isn't a...

Mutiple Listings

I have noticed lately that there have been quite a few ads with multiple listings. I am talking about the exact same ad listed 2, 3, or 4 times in a row. I am not sure how they do this, but it has to be intentional. This is only my opinion, but this multiple listing practice, is kind of like taking ...

W7ET- Alan, thanks for your story. I was wondering if Burqhardt's mentioned what the actual problem was, as far as what part was bad?? Anyway, it will give me something to putz around with, if I could ever get it on my, "to do" list.

Doug, thanks for the info. I haven't had time to check out the PS-125 yet. I did download the manual/schematic, so when time permits, I am going to check things out. I guess by having another supply, I haven't had to rush into the repair yet.

Thanks, Pat N8QBY

Bill, the ICOM PS-125 has a pig-tale coming out the back of the power supply with the matching plug for many Icom radio's. It is about 14" long, and plugs into the back of the radio. There aren't any fuses in the cord. The actual power-cord for the radio is not used. Anyway, the next time I get bore...

Bill, I checked the fuse with my meter, and it checked good. The fuse is white, so you can't just visually check it. Also, the power cord is just a plain 3-conductor cord for 117vac, with no fuses. It will give me something to do, but I just thought I would ask for others input to see if they have c...
