Re: Furman Rack Rider questions ???????

field day is a whole different story.. take extra battery along as there is plenty of time to prepare for FD. my suggestion is a 6 volt battery and an 8 volt battery in series.. yes 8 volt.. used on many farm tractors in the 50s area.. ' my John deere B lhad an 8 volter. I recently checked, they wer...

Re: Furman Rack Rider questions ???????

Maybe rethink you power needs... you dont have to work the world during an emergency.. HF at 15 to 20 watts would get you a couple hundred miles away.. enough beyond local repeater distance to do the jopb..

if its truely an IF transformer.. about 1 inch square and with small fibre form and coils inside.
its maybe worth about 75 cents,, unless it was needed for a specific radio rebuild..for Specific Bendix radio.

Re: Tower Climbing Harness

I had a climbing belt with lanyard.. actually two different ones. I bought a 'fall arrest' gear at a hamfest. leg straps etc. I fed my Klien climbing belt thru it to get the belt function. So now its full 'tiip over' safe. I think $25 for the fall arrest gear. I climbed with just belt for 20 years. ...

Re: Yaesu FT-757GX problem

possibly heat related. also the usual.. tighten any grounding screws on PC boards. try using canned air.. upside down. cool off parts of the radio to see if it comes back on when cooled. localize possibilities that way. check all internal voltages at their voltage regulators. most radios have 8 or 5...

Re: Question about duplexers

Somewhat depends on the 4 antennas and what they cover. But if you use a T connector between 2 antennas, you may have the radio input impedance to be at 25 ohms if both antennas are at resonance and are 50 ohm.. Now if you have a resonant 2 meter antenna and a resonant 440 antenna connected to the 2...

Put me on the list. I have purchased QSL cards twice. I have most of the 4000 i ordered.(cheap for the second 1K) QSLing is expensive. An active hame could spend $1K easy in a year. . thats a new rig. And why should I stroke someone elses ego.. In 50 years as a Ham I have about 8 or 10 QSLcards. I j...

Re: Teletype info

Too vague. Digital signal. What digital system.. Teletype is either 5 level or 8 level baudeau.. Some older matrix printers were EBCDIC coding.. (IBM) or later on ASCII.. you have to match the coding to the printer.. Real teletypes can print TTY signals almost directly off the air. You just need the...

Best idea is ask on the air if they QSL.. ................ I seldom qsl anyone. I just dont care if i get cards. I have no one to impress with a bunch of cards. If they are in my log , I'm happy. Re: Tenna phase III ps-20 power supply

an 18 volt zener will conduct if it gets a potential above 18 volts. so what would be the reason a voltage on the pin of the 723 went above 18 volts, and was then tied to ground. or effectively regulated to below 18 volts. and what would be the results if it did go above 18 volts.. and stayed there....

In the vintage about 1990 to 1996 handbooks there is the complete build for a 28 volt powersupply. With good explaination of its workings. I have built it as a 13.8 supply several times.. Its circuit applys equally to 13 volt setup. by drawing the circuit of yours 'as is' and 'as shown' in you schem...

Re: tvi from g5rv close too satelite dish's

This is a ""depends on..." answer. If the wire runs directly accross the face area of the satellite it will overload the LNB amp. if the wire is off to one side or behind the satellite, likely it will not be a problem. Mine is parallel to the 'line of site of the satellite'' and about 25 feet away a...

check the rig for a memory battery.. My guess the battery is dead.

paint it to match.. They should have a 'brake' to bend the lip on it.

Re: (Help) with a Kenwood 940s

happiness is a hair dryer and a can of air. turn canned air upside down and give short spurts into areas of the radio you suspect. that should keep it cool enough to work longer.. you can direct canned air to very specific parts. and its super cold. for all trouble shooters. if you have a ''wont wor...

I had a similar problem on an old kenwood. it was caused by the power lead i put in for the tone board. use rg174 for power and signal. ground the shield on only one end .. unless both ends help.. It could be caused by where your wires run past other audio componenets on the boards. try moving the t...

I'm not an expert in this real, but I would just put a T connector in the coax and feed two appropriate antennas. The antenna that matches the signal frequency will radiate most of the RF. As the other antenna would be very inefficient at that frequency. My precaution would be the length of the coax...
