Re: INTERFERENCE WITH DIGITAL TV

I front end overloaded my satellite with a 15 meter verticle at about 60 feet horizontally and 100 watts. Buy 20 feet of pipe and put either of the antennas farther away. Most roof tops are about 14 feet off the ground. so chimney mount gets you about 20 feet up.. If all your local stations are in t...

Re: Alternator noise through radio transmission

beware..... It may not be the alternaotor (been there done that ) A bad blower in the heater can seem like the same problem.. noise changes with rpm.. Most cars the blower runs even at "off"on the controls to keep positive air pressure in the body to prevent exhaust gas from entering. but a 'whine f...

Re: murch ut-2000a HELP

Also 'the ultimate transmatch' is in several of the versions of the "HANDBOOK",,,,,,, look it up.. And be aware there can be a couple of dips in SWR that are false minimums, caused by harmonics of the base frequency. Be sure on an antenna you have the 'lowest ' one... All a matter of practice..........

Internet says its a roller inductor transmatch. so start with a dummy load....to practice with. Rule of thumb minimum turns on the roller for the 10 meter end of the line. Maximum turns for the 160 end. I have a practice of setting the Caps to mid setting. take a guess at the turns counter for the b...

find the bulb location. measure the voltage. get a LED and resistor to make the voltage work on LED.. use a 5 K pot to adjust to the right brightness of the LED. the put a fixed resistor on the lead. if the LED spot is not angled correct, rough up the surface slightly with fine sandpaper to get some...

Re: Questions on Selling

Hams can buy and modify to the ham bands any radio.. So leghal to sell most to hams. Obviously not militllary secret/classified radios. conmmercial users are restricted to certified radios, which an experimental radio is not likely to have been certified in production, if its a one off version.

Re: Replacement t/r relay for ICOM IC-2KL ??

just fix it.. common cause of "sticking relays"' is residule magnetism.. on the yoke around the coil and at the point the armature hits the yoke there should be a thin aluminum strip that is the 'residule'( nameits called) they wear out or got to thin.. a quic fix is runa strip of scotch tape thru t...

Many smaler town motorola dealers are also hams. they would have the moto info.. I'm not sure where you could use it tho. If commercially then the dealer would be involved. And illegal on the ham bands. And using the radio on some other frequency would also need a commercial license , likely..

Re: FT-920 VFO-B display

I will take a wild guess and think that it is a feature of the radio to blank out VFO b so that the operator doesnt look at the wrong one during operation. its likley a menu value you set... a full reset would likly clear it but i would think simple perusal of the menus woould show it up.

I can't help with the antennas. too far away. As for the hand helds. you need to read up on two meter operation.. all about simplex and repeaters. You need to know what the radios can do , before you can figure out how to make them do it.. You need to under stand repeaters, tone access, offsets of f...

Re: cheap source for those just getting started?

Often amateurs have multiple rigs so one is a spare. maybe unused for years.. Some might lend it out. Others may not as a new operator can kill it with bad usage. I just saw a kenwood TS180s on fleabay for $250. I have one and like it. All band 100 watts. Maybe just save up a few more penneys. Go to...

You don't say what your issues are. All a rotor is , is a motor and some gears..and a brake. solenoid to operate the brake. Take it apart on a table with a towel under it, in case the bearings fall out. they won't roll far on a towel. Oil the motor, grease the bearings, clean any crud out of it. ?wi...

That doesn't mean it wasn't modified to use an accessory connection to mute the receiver during transmit. Schematic shoud be available. and look for an extra octal socket onthe rear apron. That would be the likely modification back in the day. Likely on lead of such socket would go to ground,, which...
