Re: Kenwood AT-230 max through power
Kenwood AT-230, can you exceed 200 watts in the "THROUGH" position? According to the AT-230 manual, the output power and SWR can be measured even in the "through" position. Since the meter circuit operates in the "through" position, and the maximum forward power on the meter is 200 watts, I don't b...

Rick, KC9LDP, great ham!
Bought a Hakko 808 desolder tool from Rick, KC9LDP. The Hakko was expertly packed, works perfectly, and was exactly as described. I wouldn't hesitate to do business with Rick again!

Re: Tektronix model 475
I know nothing about value for test gear. This is a dual trace scope with 2 60 mhz probes. It works well. cosmetically I would rate it at a 9. The used list on Universal Radio doesn't have Tektronix scopes, so I'd use what's already been sold on eBay as a good guide. Three of them like yours were s...

KW4H , K7VS did give his side of the story,it's all in caps... You're right -- I didn't see his side. After reading K7VS's side, I have to agree that it was inappropriate to sell the radio out from under the mail-order purchaser. Someone had their heart set on that piece of equipment and had claime...

What ever happened to "an egg in hand is worth 2 in the bush?" He notified the prospective buy across the country that a local came into the picture and paid for the item.....so.......what's up??? He did nothing wrong. He sold his item. He notified the other person So,,,, what's the fuss???? You gu...

W0KH, Frank -- excellent buyer!
I recently sold Frank my AvMap GPS unit. The transaction went smoothly and Frank was wonderful to deal with. One of the things I've always enjoyed about the ham community is the honesty and good spirits we have in working with each other. Frank is one of the good guys!!

I'm not advocating overpricing stuff, but to be fair there are often good reasons for a premium price on certain items. For example, the car I drive (a Volkswagen diesel) retains a higher value as a used car because of what it is. Some boatanchor radios go for higher prices because they're antiques ...

Re: Bizarre Steve
I have already filed with the banks (US Navy Fed Credit Union -Merrifield, VA) Small world -- I use Navy Federal exclusively, and have for many years. They're a top-notch credit union, if someone tries to bamboozle them they probably won't take too kindly to it. They also have a very large bureaucr...

Re: boo hoo
what a bunch of cry babies. if he sold it, and he sent back your money order, all you lost was the money order fee. that's the breaks of dealing online. grow up cry babies. So if I agreed to sell something to you that you really wanted, I told you where to send your money, you went to the time and ...

Re: NOT QUITE!!
Not Quite that easy. If the buyer received an email confirming the sale then that should be good enough. I don't know any of the hams involved in this, but I'd have to agree with K9XR. If a seller reached an agreement with a buyer, especially to the point of indicating how payment should be made, t...

Re: Bank Check
It is confusing to me too as his bank won't tell me much or my bank either (maybe there is more to this crumb then we know) but they told me it is a cashiers check and he had it canceled. This is VERY bizarre, because a Cashier's Check is a legally binding, "irrevocable promise to pay" by the issui...

Re: Bank Check
I just noticed in my earlier post where I errored in Cashier Check and Bank Check. What I should have posted was Bank Money Order can be reversed or stop payment. Seems Cashier Check, Bank Check and Official Check are non-reversal, whereas Bank Money Order is. From Bankersonline.com: A bank money o...

This thread is a bit confusing, because there's no such thing as a "stop payment" on a bank check. A cashier's check is a direct obligation of the issuing bank and there's no way to "stop payment". This is why bank checks are required for things like real estate closings. In all states except South ...

Re: More cb's
It seems like more and more cb's are being sold on this site all the time. I hope this current trend isn't the future of this site. I've been licensed since 1974, and got started in radio first as a SWL, and then a CB'er. The first antenna that went up on the roof of my parents' house was a CB ante...

I'm not a frequent seller of gear (although lately I've been cleaning out the shack and have posted some stuff). When I first started posting some items for sale here, I refused to accept PayPal. After thinking about it some more, I decided to reverse course and accept PayPal because if I was a buye...
