I had similar thing happen with a rig and accessories. I agreed to a price worth about 40 percent less than the going rate (about $700 total) Shipped the package and then the guy claimed that a certain piece wasn't working 3 weeks later, though I had been using the rig for months previous. The piece...

It's not your fault for not asking. A smoking environment is an undisclosed defect of the radio. Yes defect. Some rigs I have pulled from a shipping box have stunk so bad they have to sit outside under a carport before they air out enough to even begin the cleanup.

Re: WAY OVERRATED

I think Pictures are WAAYY Over-rated. I also think that some of the usual "tire kickers" around here must collect them. WOW ! And I thought it was just me.. I HATE having to take photos. In fact not taking photos is a strong incentive for me to list here rather than ebay. Never fails, give a very ...

Many would have an issue with YOU for not asking if the guy was a smoker and not even blink an eye for the seller not mentioning it. This is the one of the things that isn't revealed by pictures. I've gotten stung several times by smokers rigs. Yes I've cleaned them up, but unless the ham was a very...

This is one of the main reasons that I won't describe ANY radio as mint or excellent. The best one will get is "good " condition. Then I supply any interested parties plenty of high def pics. When I get asked about scratches or spots it sends off alarm bells and I try to steer the buyer away. I tell...

It's not unusual for a company to replace an item that is intermittent. It really is the best thing to do to keep a customer happy. Would your friend have been happier if he had been offered a refund? After doing repairs for 30 years there are some types that either require a "shotgun" approach or j...

It makes very little difference with the wait time for transfer. Paypal has access to your checking account and can do an immediate transfer of funds in case of a refund. If for some reason you don't have enough funds available then they will go after the backup funding source. Typically a credit ca...

The picture sure didn't look blurry to me, but even so if you look closely the radio certainly isn't "mint". There is wear on the brushed aluminum face and main tuning knob. Also if you look closely you can see the silk screened dots are missing. Mike if you were looking for a "mint collector's qual...

Intent to purchase is a "legally binding contract"? Right...drag that into small claims and the judge will ask you "what was your loss?" . You will say "well he said he was gonna buy my radio and then didn't!". You're not out any money and the ad was free to post. You're out some time, nothing more....

Unbelieveable. Smoking hams still think that it's perfectly OK to not mentioned the fact that their radio looks and smells like the inside of a Nevada whorehouse. A reeking stinking radio is a hidden defect that YOU as the seller should tell your potential purchaser. I've opened up at least three bo...

You're not out any money. There was no fraud involved. Just a person who decided that he would rather swap instead of sell. And for this you post a "warning"?

I honestly think you should ask Scott to remove this thread as you haven't been hurt in the least. Just "disappointed".

Sheesh.

First off in IMHO the radio is certainly not mint. But if I spotted it for $500-550 I certainly give it a second look if in the market for such a radio. Whenever I sell a rig and a potential purchaser begins to inquire about "small scratches" it throws up a HUGE warning flag. Most purchasers looking...

Wow, you guys are really hard nosed. Just a few days ago I responded to a post. No response the first day. Again I sent a reply. Nothing the second day. Was the guy being a "JERK"? No. It turned out the my email had been going into his junk mail folder, along with his credit card company mailing, an...

I'm pretty sure this is the same guy that pulled the same thing on me. I spotted an R7000 for a inexpensive price at 830 am at work. I wrote an email from QTH stating I'd buy it. By 11am he had written 3 emails, called my home phone, and finally stated on the last email that he had sold it. This was...

Even the country. :> Hello, Thanks for the explanation, will need your address info so payment can be issued out and don't worry about the shipping my shipper will be coming for the p...
