Scott, Allow me to throw in my 2 cents on this thread. I was the last to comment on the "R4RT" debacle, in that I posted that "this thread needs to die" since it obviously got so convoluted and way off-topic. This thread is heading down the same path. Here's a thought to prevent further "topic creep...

Re: I think it is a great idea

This is especially true late at night when most normal people are sleeping. I am starting to think that most of these Phony ads are placed late at night just for that reason. ...or it could be that it is the middle of the day where they reside, while it being the middle of the night here? Just work...

Actually, the US Postal Service's Delivery Confirmation and Tracking system is just about useless. It might tell you if a package has left from origin (IF the originating station remembers to scan said package), as well as it might tell you IF the package has been received at the destination station...

Re: Why are hams so cheap?

I swear if I put a Kenwood TS-2000 on the hamfest table for $100.00, someone would come along and offer $50.00! Ofcourse we all want to get the best price, but hams make an art form of being cheap. Some of these guys are so tight that I think their butts squeak when they walk! And when they do, the...

The N4MC Callsign Lookup data for a particular call includes ALL historical information regarding that call (at least post-1991; sometimes as far back as 1981). The only data point of that information that is valid is the one where the call is marked as "ACTIVE". If there is any doubt as to the iden...

How Old am I???

I was always under the impression that Yaesu started their month codes with C (for January). A search on "FT-1000d" on Google shows a website that states the '1000D was released in late 1989, thereby making this 1000D a December 1989 vintage unit based on the above information.

Re: Package from KA9MOT

I retrieved the box from Steve (KA9MOT) about 15 minutes ago. I will not have anyone to help with the video until tomorrow afternoon. At that time I will open it. I can tell you now that the item in the box is NOT packed tight and is sliding back and forth. The box is a 12" x 12" x 6" flat rate box...

Re: Radio_Mart must have asked for and received permission..

The QTH.COM Classifieds system is available for non-commercial use only, unless prior permission is granted. Commercial is defined as anyone that manufactures or purchases a new product and offers that product for sale at a profit, or offers a pay-for service . If you meet this criteria, you should...

Wanna try 450 miles round trip?

I was 55 miles one-way from Harrisburg back in the late 70s/early 80s. Made the trip fine (of course...gas prices were but a small fraction of what they are today) Nowadays, here in SE Washington state in order to attend a hamfest comparable in size and quality to the Harrisburg (as I remember it!) ...

FT-857Ds

Some other considerations that would affect pricing: Age: The '857D has been in production since 2004. Naturally an older unit wouldn't command as high a price in the used market as a newer unit. Mods: The '857 & early '857D units were able to be modded for MARS via software. This mod was reversible...
