KCOUKR!! I love you!!! " REPLY: Mike's comments have been well received, and this thread's Primary initiator pretty well got shot full of holes. --- You stated "My experience so far with the Ham's I have dealt with has been one of exageration and over stating the condition of almost everything."I c...

Re: CES 4700VP voice patch

I had an old CES SSI 68 voice patch connected to my IC-229 and it worked fine for years until it got zapped. I bought a CES 4700VP but have been unsuccessful in making it work with my IC-229. Does anyone out there know what radio will work with the 4700. or another patch that works with the IC-229....

It is increasingly apparent that commercial interests are using QTH as a forum to promote their products, posting in the non-commercial area instead of buying ads. I thought that was not allowed? -- partial snipped -- ebay posts are often from undeclared Ham businesses vs casual Ham sales of person...

The poll question #2 may need modification (?)

AL, I think if there are going to be 3 questions in the choices, the "bridge" question might be to offer "an ebay ad posting which ALSO ALLOWS the item to be bought here on QTH, without going to Ebay to get it, or even to read the details of the ad." As I posted elsewhere tonite, I am opposed to "Eb...

Re: Not DOA However As With All Electronics This Is "AS

Have you ever seen anything as stupid as the above title? Someone lists something as "Guaranteed not DOA, however as with all Items like this it is sold "AS IS". ...Caveat Emptor 73 Paul W8jn --------- I have numerous opinions on this!! (1) If it looks like an Ebay ad, and if it smells like a...

Re: Not DOA However As With All Electronics This Is "AS

I would state that what I've been calling "Ebay Only" type ads should be banned from all the ham swap pages, including this one. If an ad here on QTH is essentially an EBAY ad, (which means it is really ONLY a referral to a link to an Ebay ad, AND it does NOT OFFER the radio or item HERE on QTH (or ...

Re: Be Warned: N8LUV is a very dishonest ham.

N8LUV AKA Jim Mc Clellan stole $610 from me straight out. I bough a 706MKIIG from him off of Ebay and sent him payment but he never shipped me the radio. All emails have went unanswered and the phone number he had listed on Ebay is not a valid number. Pay-pal did recover $175 but that was all they ...

Re: Floyd

I see he has for sale items on E-Ham... Well, looks like N5OYA is done here. I am sure Scott will also do some "other measures" to insure he doesn't post any more ads. So it seems like the next three steps are to contact EHAM, QRZ and the ARRL classifieds pages and ask their Monitors to Remove all ...

UPS tried their best to destroy the rig. The dumbass driver dumped the box in my driveway and left it there!!!!!. MY DRIVEWAY!!!!!! W8JN ------------- I've been getting away from UPS for a year now. "Ebay Only" Ads on QTH, QRZ & Eham

I don't mind if someone derives their living or any small part of it on ebay or anywhere else. But the "Ebay Only" ad that is placed on here is another story. You are right -- there is the " Sale outside of Ebay before the auction ends " clause ebay sellers can use. Of course Ebay really pushes the ...

security of 'ebay' and 'paypal' services:

So are you saying anyone who doesn't offer to accept paypal in their ad, or for their item, that there's something wrong and suspicious about them? AND that they are cheap skates. "Ebay-ONLY" ads placed on the Ham Swap pages:

Kind of a NEW post but tied to some parts of this discussion: N7ANL quote (I'm now adding comments to my own previous quote. Here's the previous quote): "... Fine, but WHY did the guy list his "Ebay only ad" ON the private ham swap pages like QTH, QRZ or EHAM -- if his item was NOT REALLY AVAILABLE ...

My thoughts on PayPal: PayPal is fine so long as a person is not lured into opening a Premier or Business account (Unless of course that person has a business.) and have the fees applied. A lot of people have the misconception that PayPal always charges a percentage - not true. If a person has a Pe...

This is why I like PayPal. If I am buying I send payment immediatley and you never have to worry if I am going to pay for it and if I am selling, I have payment before I ever package the item. I know PayPal has it's flaws but it sure does make things convenient. Bob It makes it more than convenient...

deadbeat buyers

I have never done this but it has happened to me many times in the past. I don't let it bother me nor begrudge anyone at all for it. (some snipped) I have learned that a sale is not final until the money is in your hand. Maybe the peson has suffered severe a medical issue or family emergency. Under...
