Man, every time someone says "Just my opinion...", it seems they're always ready for a battle to the death that their opinion is the only opinion that should exist. If you read my post, I was commenting on a Galaxy 88 radio that was for sale on QTH. Let's see... Galaxy 10/11 meter radio up for sale ...

No good can come from a licensed amateur using 10 meter frequencies authorized to his/her license class? I sure wouldn't want you as my judge or juror, Mister "Guilty Until Proven Innocent".

It's more likely to be bought by a ham here than eBay, I bet.

It is impossible for a well-established free ad site to pre-regulate posts.

Case in point: craigslist.

I must be hanging around in the wrong places. Without links to real examples, your description seems purely theoretical to me.

If "make offer" is not part of a sentence along the lines of "$300 or make offer", I understand perfectly what that means (see my previous post). Do you?

As I understand it, any sales, want to buys, or want to trades, should be posted as ads on http://swap.qth.com and not in this forum.

Do you mean floridaswapshop.com ?

If so, the direction is South.

In other words, if they were presented with this task: "Write a random number." They would be too lazy to do so. The whole point of buying and selling is for the seller to offer an item at a price, the buyer to counteroffer with a lower price, the seller to re-offer somewhere inbetween the original ...

The Batlabs Batboard has a feedback forum too. They are many-edged swords. From a feedback or group of feedbacks about a person, you don't get absolute certainty about the honorableness of a person. My biggest pet peeve is that multiple good feedbacks can make you think someone's respectable, when b...

I am against anybody other than Scott KA9FOX, the owner of this site, and his designated moderators, being vigilantes with or without cause, with or without a harassing tone.

I think Scott will agree with me on this, as he's said in the past to contact him directly about problem ads.

I find that once I file away the manual, I so rarely delve into my files that I forget it when I sell the thing later on. Keep the box if you can, and definitely keep any unused accessories and the manual with the box.

Look up my call via eHam.net or click on QTH's callsign search- http://www.qth.com/callsign.php?cs=N6ATF

Now tell me, would the average person believe that I don't have a callsign based on those results?

You may easily find an address on QRZ.com, but it won't necessarily be the location of the tower or even the home address of the licensee, since the FCC only requires a mailing address where you can receive mail.

I usually see laptops used for packet radio or Motorola radio programming, both very portable uses. For internet radio/repeater linking, typically desktops can handle the constant power/heat dissipation and stability this requires.

Callsign lookup

Please make the callsign lookup access the FCC ULS database, the only database of U.S. amateur callsigns that can be trusted. QRZ.com does NOT list all U.S. amateur callsigns because some hams, including me, have opted-out of their database for this, and other reasons: it is a private site which has...

Being on both ends of the transaction, that's a valid question. Some people put up so many ads they lose track of them all, and neglect to delete their ad when it is sold. Back in the day, the excuse was that the newspaper classified couldn't be "deleted", and it's still there to some extent, but th...
