Return Emails
My apologies to all the readers for repeating this thread. I know this has been written about before, but I thought it needed repeated. This weekend really was a frustrating time. Here is Southern Ohio we got socked in with a blizzard that pretty much meant three days in the house. So what to do? Ge...

I'm inclined to agree with you, but give the seller the benefit of the doubt. It may not be the photo is hiding defects, it may just be a sign that the person taking the picture doesn't know how to use their camera! Which brings to mind another question, If they can't figure out how to use a camera,...

How many times have you read a posting asking for help on a technical issue or needing information for a problem. I have responding to many over the years, and most of the times everything is ok. But what really gets my crank out is when the requesting party hasn't the decency to return an email tha...

Well Jerry, I know you said no opinions, but I think when you ask a question the only answer you can get is going to be somewhat opinionated. I am sure this thread can gather up a bunch of opinions on what this means. So I have the honor of being first.... I bought a radio from a guy that I forgot t...

Swapping
Al, your right! This is an amateur radio board, and I agree it should be limited to amateur items when posting an ad. What I am referring to, and not doing a very good job of making it clear, is..... An ad is posted that has the tag line, sale or trade for ?????. So you email the guy and say, ok, wh...

Swapping
To K9XR I forgot to mention, there is a web site that accepts darn near anything listed in a ad. It is primarily for swapping, although there has been a scat few items that actually were sold. The site is by invitation only. We attempt to keep our members above board on the honesty factor. Tom, N8PQB

Swap Arrangements
Yep, just like that. I couldn't begin to list all the things I have been offered over the past 20 years. My previous entry says it all.... The "swap" arrangements are strictly between the two parties involved. However, first you have to have something someone else wants. You just never know what som...

Scott.....
Don't misunderstand my thread, I was not saying its ok on your site, I certainly don't have that choice. I was merely stating the obvious difference between owning and using, and how the law applies.

Legal/Illegal
Least we get too far off the subject, let us all remember there is nothing illegal about owning type accepted or not, 11 meter radios any more than it is illegal for a technical to own a HF rig. It isn't the ownership that is illegal, its the use of the rig that makes it a violation. Yes its probabl...

Ham radio site
Wally, I couldn't agree with you more. Its supposed to be ham radio stuff. I recently seen a house for sale. I guess because it had an antenna he didn't want to take down, that made it a ham related ad. hi hi I think Scott and the monitors do a respectful job of deleting ads that don't belong. But, ...

I somewhat agree. IMHO, if someone refuses to send pictures when requested, I wonder what is being hidden. I have seen digital cameras as low as $29. No its not a fancy one, but it will work. I have a hard time accepting the 'I don't have a camera thing". To be successful in selling/trading ham gear...

This is probably unfair to say, but it is my opinion, which by the nature of being an American Citizen, I am untitled to....... I generally don't do business with anyone from California, Texas, Florida, and a couple of States north of Florida. Seems most of the "dealers" reside in those places. I wo...

Ebay
These are among the many reasons why its not smart to buy off Ebay. I think this especially applies to ham gear. Many times I have seen the tag lines on ads on QTH saying, "If not sold by "some time frame", it goes to Ebay". This tells me its probably not a good piece of equipment in the first place...

I have a slightly different opinion, or I am more bold to spell it out. IMHO I think the sellers that use the sold pending, are either: A. To lazy to write the ad again B. Not quite sure how to write their ad in Notepad, and save it, in case they need to use it again. I think there are some who shou...

Maybe no wants to trade a radio for a telescope. The "swap" arrangements are strictly between the two parties involved. However, first you have to have something someone else wants.

A sad state of affairs for amateurs
Have you ever took time to closely look at ham shack pictures that appear with many call sign look-ups? Amateur radio today has digressed into appliance operators twisting fancy dials, while watching numbers flip around. I recently decided to give up my home brewing hobby for several reasons, most o...

Call Sign List
Some time back I started saving call signs of people I had good deals with. I am proud to say there are 135 calls on that list, that says a lot for the honest hams that buy, sell, and trade on the ham sites. But.......yes there is a but.. . I also started saving a list of call signs of discourtous h...
