FTdx5000 Menu Issue

There are 170 menu options on this rig and all of a sudden, menu number 170 is missing. This has caused all menu numbers from 112 upward to 169 to be off by one number. I’ve done both, a menu reset and then a factory reset but the problem still exists. I’d appreciate any help in getting this issue r...

MFJ-1026 Noise Canceller

I'm interested in the MFJ-1026 unit and would like to know if users are able to run higher than 100 watts without damage. I use an FTdx5000 and frequently run the full 200 watts with it. Also, are you using a relay protection cable (phono plugs) between the unit and transceiver. Any information will...

Timewave Navigator Soundcard Modem

I'm looking for current reviews on the Timewave "Navigator" soundcard modem. I currently use a SignaLink USB unit which works well but I'd like to know how other operators feel after the two units are compared. 73, W8FCD Steve

Viking MB-V-A Tuner

I've been using the MB-V-A tuber for over 30 yrs. without an issue. Recently, however, the SWR meter is showing negative readings. Anyone have any suggestions as to what might be the problem? Nothing in the station has been changed, this is something that just started showing up a few days ago. By t...

Good thought - - I can place the ladder on the deck for some added height during testing.
Thanks,

Rotatable Dipole - Gamma Match

I have a 4-element, 15 mtr. Cushcraft yagi that was recently taken down because of space limitation. I would, however, like to use the driven element only as a rotatable dipole on 15 mtrs. Since it utilizes a gamma match I'm wondering if I will encounter any tuning difficulty. Your thoughts and sugg...

SignaLink USB

Has anyone using the SignaLink USB had problems with the Tx pot? This is my 2nd unit and the same problem exists in both. Just touching the Tx knob changes the output of the rig. It will, for example, jump from my initial setting of 25 watts upward to 45, 50, 60 watts and onward. I've contacted Tige...

Tower Climbing Harness

I'm looking for recommendations for an inexpensive safety harness and lanyard to use in climbing my 50 ft. self-supporting Universal aluminum tower. I've never climbed the tower myself and don't want to take chances without proper equipment. I'm not interested in any comfort amenities such as a seat...

Problems using SignaLink USB and the DigiPan Program

I’m new to the digital game and have been using BPSK-31 for one week with a SignaLink USB with DigiPan software and running 20 watts. I have two issues: 1). My RF output power doesn’t remain constant after I initially set it at 20 watts, it fluctuates. I tune the rig for max output which is 100 watt...

Kenwood TL922 power switch capacitor

I'm replacing the power switch on a TL-922A amplifier and I need to replace the ceramic capacitor soldered to it as well. Can anyone with this amp advise me what the value of this capacitor is? Does anyone have this capacitor available for sale? Tnx, Steve spz1@att.net

Digipan & QRZ Database

The Digipan software program offers two sources for Callsign Lookup; HamCall and QRZ. HamCall is free and works fine. However, I like the feature of QRZ offering photos with the callsign information and so I purchased a one-year subscription but cannot get it to work with Digipan - - it won't connec...

With the help of Cliff, KA5IPF, and others, I solved the problem. I trimmed a typical business card, dampened it with some contact cleaner, and with a flashlight, pair of glasses and patience, I was able to clean the contacts of the relay. A tip for others who might experience this problem. Since K...

TL-922A "sticking" Antenna Relay ?

Occasionally, after transmitting through the TL-922A and releasing the microphone switch, the level of receiver audio drops off, it doesn't return to the level at which it was originally set. In order to correct the issue I have to toggle the microphone's switch a few times tripping the TL-922A's r...

PROBLEM running two logging programs at same time

I was able to run two programs on the computer at the same time, the N3FJP logging program and Ham Radio Deluxe (HRD). I would open one, minimize it, and open the other. I would then minimize the 2nd program and be able to toggle between each one. So far so good. I proceeded to install a Winkeyer un...

Let me qualify an error. Shortly after my initial posting, I caught an error, I realized I mentioned the possibility of wiring the bulbs to the "ON-Off" rocker switch -- that switch is wired to the 110 volt supply which obviously would "blow" the 24 volt bulbs! There are a few articles where users h...

Lighted meters Astron Power Supply

I have two new lighted meters for the RS-35M power supply which will replace the original non-lighted meters. I would like to know if 12 volt bulbs are used and if so, can they be connected directly to the lighted "On-Off" rocker-type power switch for quick and easy soldering. Tnx. W8FCD spz1@att.net

I can use some advice regarding an intermittent problem I'm having with the audio on my Kenwood TS-940S. Upon turning the rig "ON", on occasion, the audio volume is very low despite the AF gain control being set at my normal listening level. Flipping the SEND switch on the rig momentarily (or doing ...
