Hamfests are getting real bad about being a dumping ground for equipment with issues.

When confronted with a scammer trying to pull the Cashier's Check (or any non-personal payment instrument) scam, tell them that your financial institution WILL NOT accept their paper for deposit and that it has to be sent in for collection. Fraud is defined as when "A KNOWINGLYmakes a false statement and B, relying on that statement, acts and suffers a loss.

The hardest problem in any fraud action is proving that the alleged fraudster KNEW his (or her) statement was false.

Be sure brain is fully engaged before sending funds!

PayPal -- complete failure to deliver.

If you run PayPal through your credit card, file a billing error notice with the card issuer: the seller failed to deliver the goods.
