Re: who does repairs on vhf/uhf equipment?

questions to answer.. what does the display show if put on 146.520.. is it 146.525 ??? is the +5 offset switch/setup turned on?? How do you know it transmits correctly. be sure and look at the display when transmitting. Everything is worth fixing.. Narrow down the fault as accurate as you can. Then ...

Re: Can I tune 10,12, 15 and 17 $& 20 m?

If you chart out the lengths you will see some multiples of length. 40 and 15 are related.. as are 10 and 20 or 40 and 80. Simpler antenna would be a fan dipole. one feed point, multiple wires cut to length.. Plus a lot of weight for that many traps.. Think separate antennas. An 40/80 trap dipole,(b...

Re: Goal Zero solar panel connection

not familiar with either device. but........ it must be DC and there for 2 wires.. plus and minus.. possibly a third wire which would be frame ground for safety.. figure out the plus side of the panel and plus side of input to controller. wire that and then the other should be minus. if a third wire...

That is the equipment you intend to use. I still dont understand the question or concerns..
That kind of equipment is pretty generic.. Why would Tennessee be any different.?

Re: Cleaning and lubing a roller inductor

I would guess electrical grease from electric supply/hardware store, used on aluminum wire connections,, also in auto work.. My suggestion is just rub some on your fingers to make them slightly slick and wipe along the shaft. thus a very thin coat. At a slow speed, not much lub is needed.

Re: FT-911A mars/cap mod

Any mars mod should be available from your Mars co-ordinator.. Also,,if Mars uses vhf uhf...
Any other,, suggests use in un-authorized frequencys and is probably why you have had no replys , as most hams will not assist in messing up a prefectly good radio.

Re: ICM pin out for IC 7200

first off, compare the mic wireing of the 7000 with the 7200 to be sure they are either the same ,
or if different, which wires.
the if necessary, open up the heil mic and wring out the wireing with your ohm meter.
Basic door bell electricity..

Re: jupiter mike

you can not just swap mics with out verifying the pin out of the connectors. Especially since electret mics have an 8 volt or so line to power the element. Connecting the wrong pin to the 8 volts would either wipe out the 8 volt supply or put 8 volts somewhere you really dont want it.. Get help with...

the displays have very tiny contacts.. smaller than a pencil line..and close together. if the display gets just a bit twisted or slid sideways the contact will be lost. I would eye ball the display very closely,if your lucky go by the dust rilng around it to see if its moved. I had trouble replacein...

Re: Heathkit HL-2200

First problem.. get out ;your ohm meter hand ring out the power switch and or wireing to it. That should find the 'turn off' problem.. You didnt mention if you had to 'turn on the switch' after unplugging to get it to power back up..... that could make a difference as to how to troubleshoot. Also to...

I don't believe that BS about NSA recording everything. With all the calls and computer users and cell phones in the US it would take a disk farm the size of Connecticut to store it all. And a population the size of Maine to do any searches of what might be of value to some one. And over 90% of the ...

Re: Tuning 2M Antenna system for HF

the antenna would be only 1/20th of the proper length on 40 meters. a quarter wave on 2 meters is about 19 inches.
a quarter wave on 40 meters about 10 feet. I dont think you could get any tuner to work with that difference.

Re: bottom mounted rotor

60 feet of pipe will be rather heavy as an addition for the rotor to turn..
plus you would have to slide the pipe into the tower and then push it up and add another piece..
easier if the tower was put up with the pipe inside already..

first off is it a dipole configuration?? If so ...do the dipole calculation for the center freq you want to use..(17 is fairly narrow band so it should work all over the band. )) adjust the wire length accurately.. inches count.. also direction.. I would look in the $500 range.. ICOM 706markII is a nice small foot print rig. 12 volt. HF and 2 meters and 440. go to 'rigpix' and scan thru some pictures of ICOM kenwood and yeasu and even Alinco for small rigs. also peruse the eh-ham reviews.. for rigs of the past 15 years or so.. 10 to 15 year ...

How do you know they are ""needed"... if they are known then there should be some connection to where the instructions are located to accomplish them.. no one has answered so maybe there are not any really ""needed" mods. Just some one thinking they are smarter than the engineers that built it.

Re: help with wiring a mic for my omni d

for the mics you can ring out the wireing. open the mic up and the cover on the connector. draw the conector pins and the wire colors. do the same at the other end. mic should have two or maybe 3 wires. if three its likely the capacitor type that needs voltage to run. they are also polarity sensitiv...
