mike problem

Sounds like a classic case of rf getting into the microphone input. Can you borrow a mike that works on a similar transceiver that works (undistorted) to see how it works on your unit? Grounding and bypassing is the usual cure). This is a case of divide and conquer. Eliminate the transceiver or the ...

I owned one for years and it seemed to me that it was very straight forward. However a check on the internet should produce a source of operator manuals. Ralph.

Quads

One book "All about cubical Quad antennas (3rd 3dition) will answer most questions. Authors Willian I Orr,W6SAI (deceased) and Stuart D. Cowan, W2LX.
I suspect that the optimum way to feed quads is a gamma match for each band and a remote antenna switch. Any questions Ralph. W5otp.

MFJ antenna analyzer

Well it is possible to put a 2 turn coil in series with the quad loop and this will do it but why not just attach the MFJ 259 to the loop which has been split and a piece of coax attached? Comments? email nrgaines88@q.com.

Reasonable!

I keep encountering the term "reasonable offer". I think reasonable is in the mind of the beholder. Say what you mean and mean what you say. I recently made an offer that so outraged the seller that he made rude crude and unattractive remarks. I also noted that he did not make a sale. Let the potent...

best way to ship

They are equally bad. I have had a 3 element beam turned into a pretzel. I have had a 4-1000's plate shaken loose from the mounts and left rattling around in the glass envelope!! I can't imagine how this was done. I have had a $50 resistor broken--one of a set!. I suspect that the people who handle ...

stacking power supplies

If you substitute the word Parallel for the word stack the answer is yes. Use a diode in series with each supply (at least 35 amp). If you stack power supplys then the voltage is added and the current capabilities are unchanged (creates problems but I have done it).

"Greatest Antenna matching unit"

The greatest antenna matching unit exists when an antenna matching unit is not needed. For instance a Quad that has been adjusted to the operating frequency. Ditto for a doublet. A properly adjusted quad for iwill operate well on 5 bands without the need for a matching device--nice to change bands a...

License Police.

:?: Who are these people who advertise--"sell to licensed hams only"? Who elected them to the License Police? Are they related to a bunch who were reporting on their neighbors in Germany just before (and during) WW11? Isn't it illegal to specify who you will sell to ? All the ham supply houses seem ...
