K7FF LUCKY YOU!!!!!!!!!

20 OCTOBER, 2007 I'm still waiting for my $350.00 refund from N9CMS - Chris Saylor. All emails refused, letters returned. In my opinion, this guy is real scum, the wretched refuse of the Earth. Been almost six months now waiting for the authorities to get off their dead butts and get to work. I want...

VLF RECEIVER OR CONVERTER?????

I have many receivers, but none go below 200KHz. What would be the best way to listen to the not unforgotten world of VLF? Your suggestions and thoughts are very welcome. Also, do we have any frequency allocation below 160M? I had heard of something between 160 - 190 KHz, but do not know exactly whe...

K7FF!

Looks like you got the shaft like I did. It's a pretty sad world when a fellow ham steals from you like N9CMS did me. I've not given up hope that Chris would come clean, and refund my money before the Sherrif knocks at his door. It's only a matter of time , because both state agencies are cooperatin...

eBay listings

In my opinion: Any reference to eBay listings do not belong here. I do not see references to QTH.com on eBay, so why should we give them free advertisements on this list? AND, you can sell an item in minutes, as several members have already commented on, instead of waiting days for the "auction" to ...

CONELRAD Transmitters

All of us in commercial broadcast used to see the old Conelrad transmitters in the AM stations we worked in. Where did they go, in the trash when the system was dismantled? I'm going to ask a fellow engineer tonight on 80m at our regular schedule what he thinks what has happened to them. I would lov...

Capacitors!!!!!!!

Hi Group! Here is the $64.00 question for the week. Who has the best prices on capacitors (electrolytic, gum drops, and silver mica). I am restoring several Hallicrafters receivers (S-38's - a lot of them, SW-500's, S-108, SX-130) and need a reliable inexpensive source of caps. Hamfests are not very r...

You could grow a long gray beard waiting for Eham to come up on your screen :( . They obviously have problems, but if you wait long enough, you can access the site. It all depends on how much patience you have.

ICOM-751A Audio distortion on tx/rx.

Every time I fire up my IC-751A, I experience loss of receive and transmit audio. Sometimes it happens 5 or 10 minutes after turning it on, or it waits an hour or so. Time for all the ICOM experts to rally round and please lend me a hand on this problem. I've worked on this radio, have the service m...

"Mint" or ""'like NEW" Radios??????

I've heard it all in my 25 years as a ham. " A little old lady used to talk on 75M on it, as she drove to church on Sundays". The minute you accept delivery, and open the box, its a "used" radio. I do not care if you never plugged it into an antenna or power supply, its USED. If you decide that you ...

I would like to reproduce the National SW-3 receiver. Does anybody have any suggestions on the best way to do it? Magnavox model D2935 All band receiver

I have some questions about the Magnavox D2935. Who actually made it? How do you cure the BFO constant warble on SSB? This radio used to be rock solid on SSB, now it warbles all the time. If its not somthing I can cure in the shack, who would be a good repair shop to send it close to Montgomery Al? ...

my neighbors have yet to complain about TVI, and I use no baluns now. A good E.F. Johnson low pass filter and an excellent ground system does more to eliminate TVI than a "BALAN" (as you call it).

Who uses a BALUN on a G5RV? At high swr the balun saturates and will self-destruct. The specified length of ladder line is your transformer, no balun is needed . Browse for the original designs of the G5RV, and you will see that there is NO balun incorporated in the design. A lot of transmitter powe...

Like new radios?

A used radio is a used radio, period. I don't care if it is two days old or twenty years old. AND the asking price should reflect that fact. Anyone who expects the retail price plus shipping on a "used" radio is a real space cadet. And, yes, the seller should absolutely stand behind the sale. If the...

811A linear for 6m

Anybody have a construction article or conversion of one of the cheap cb linears to 6 meters? I'd much rather have a linear (homebrewed) that uses 2 811A's because they are cheap and plentiful. I would like to build it myself, but an old chassis would be welcome, too. Thank You - Fred W4FJF

What W0LPQ said hits it right on the money. When ANY of the stated conditions aren't met, its a red flag against dealing with a posted ad. You got to have a ham call, a good description of the rig, a price, and a good rep on past deals. Otherwise you are risking your money on an unknown person who m...

When I buy on the internet, and I say the money order is in the mail - IT IS. I don't play any cat and mouse game to see if the seller will ship first, then mail the money to him. I have five h-f rigs that are 11m capable, Two tempo 2020's, my Drake "B" line twins, my Yaesu FT-101, and my Icom 751A. What is the big deal? A lot of the old "boatanchors" are entirely capable of operating on 11m. As I understand it, 11m used to be a HAM band. So what is the hoopla about this? If ...

Maybe on Ebay (if you are nuts enough to pay their prices), but the FT-101( in the original box with manual and all accessories) I bought is almost mint, the 6je6c's put out their full rated power, and the transceiver is a joy to operate, and it still cost me $90.00. When you list a piece of equipment "for sale", and a ham offers you less than what you want - TELL THEM!!! Tell them what you want for it.
