Can I tune 10,12, 15 and 17 $& 20 m?

I am trying to design a dipole with traps/loading coils for 160-10 m. Can I probably tune 10, 12, 15 M with the same length of wire?
Can I probably tune 17 and 20 meter with the one wire length?
This would save designing/building/ inserting 3 traps.

Re: Rant about newer transceivers

Wow--I thouht I had troubles programming! I needed a USB cable for my Baefeng and just put in local repeaters. Then I slowly eliminated those that seemed inactive. Now, xmit does not work. Will get an Icom or something. Bs are cheap but a crap shoot . Some have great luck. I had a Lot of fun with it,...

Ham Tech linear?

Hi, I bought a boat anchor, a Ham Tech-- what appears to be a linear amplifier. It is basically a black heat sink about 6" x 2", PCB board on bottom. Two Motorola MRF "windmill" transistors, appears to run on DC 12 volts. BNC in/out. No model # of course. Cant find it on Ham Tech's website--will pos...

Re: TONY N8NNX - GOOD SELLER!

True, misrepresentation is fraud. It only takes one look to verify a model #.

Still 7 watts--that HT was doing good. Most BaoFengs, only 4 watts no matter what they are speced at. Should be 8 watts.

I take Exception: " THE BAOFENGS ARE A COMPLETE WASTE OF MONEY! YOU CAN GO ONLINE AND FOLLOW: "AN IDIOT'S GUIDE TO PROGRAMMING THE BAOFENG"-THIS IS AN ARTICLE THAT WILL LET YOU PROGRAM OR, MORE ACCURATELY PUT, CONFIGURE A BAOFENG WITH ONE REPEATER-TRY TO GO ON FROM THERE THOUGH-HA!-THE TECHNICAL OFF...

VSWR Meters?

I know I am being necromantic here, but: What is the difference between an HF VSWR meter and a VHF/UHF unit ? Is it the use of higher-frequency diodes? Or, is it also shorter tuning stubs so as not to come near resonance at the higher frequencies? I ask because my R/S 2m/70 cm stopped for a while, a...

Re: swr meters frequency specific?

I've found One CB VSWR model to work quite accurately at 2 M. Don't recall the make. An HF meter I have (80-10 m) works at 70 cm but Not at 2m. (???) Right, most won't. Query: Is the difference basically higher frequency diodes? Or, can the stub be shortened so as not to affect the reading above its...

Re: gamma match capacitors

I build Tesla coils, and I've found I need to give the caps 3x the voltage rating for the resonant rise of the coil. Inductors; 3x the current in the circuit. So, if you assume the point is at 50 ohms; if you are running full 1500 watts (not allowing for modulation, power in side bands): this is : P...

Re: Alot of junk thats not as described

That's why, unless I am in a hurry, I wait for local swaps where I can see it. This Cochise County club has a barn full of boat anchors! Tell me what U want and I'll see, maybe in April/May. Found an old Marantz, I believe, free. Big rack-mount. One tube shorted--so were all the bias resistors! Some...

I hate that. That's why I try to filter : "recent posts" when I can. Especially on Craig'sList, whree I wasted an entre day chasing things that had already been sold/ given away. Many neglect to delete after the sale.

Re: Yaesu ft-727R; Radio Shack Realistic HTX-202

Gave away the R/s plus its accessories, 3500 mA LI Ion batteries, too. LIfe is too short to mess with it any longer. The Yaesu was intermittent, but I got a used one from another site (forget its name but more trading going on). It seems all good but keyboard and Ni Cads (No biggie--put in 2800 ma/H...

Re: Yaesu ft-727R; Radio Shack Realistic HTX-202

Thanks! I argued on another forum, No, its Not the display; it had worked, Ive been a tech 35 years. And I had not come near the display--but as you describe, I guess its easy to inadvertently tweak One connection. I sent it to some guy in FL with more experience, Id rather have a good used Yaesu th...

Yaesu ft-727R; Radio Shack Realistic HTX-202

Hi! Anybody out there know how to fix or who to send a broken Yaesu and R/S HT to? My Yaesu seems to have lost factory presets while I attempted to change memory battery. Now, no display, buttons Seem to work. Had worked fine. The R/S, I seem to have blown final (again it worked fine for years , my ...
