pick-up only....WHERE???

Not exactly spelling, but how about the ads that state "pick-up only" and don't mention the location? Sure, a potential buyer can possibly find the address, but why make them go to the trouble when it would be so simple to add that info to the listing?

Bounce for cig smell

I tried the idea of using bounce dryer sheets to rid the radio of cigarette smoke, but had some unfortunate results.

It not only banged up the radio, but ther dryer is ruined too........

Come on guys, you're getting WAY off the subject. If you have ANY sale item for pick-up only, simply specify the AREA, such: "Northern Virginia", or, "Seattle WA" , "Mid-Atlantic region" or "Central Transylvania". You don't have to give your exact address. Give the potential buyer SOME idea where it...

I was beginning to think I was the only one who thinks the "Edited" ads a waste of time. Everytime I look at QTH.COM sales I find that I automatically skip over any ads marked with the "E" designation. Hey, I already SAW that one yesterday. If it wasn't interesting then, it's not now. If it's been a...

"E" Ads, an obnoxius feature

Am I the only one who thinks the "Edited" ads a waste of time? Everytime I look at QTH.COM sales I find that I automatically skip over any ads marked with the "E" designation. I am a silver power seller on ebay with over 3000 positive feedbacks at 99.7% (Yeah I know , Big Deal....) selling lots of boatanchor restoration items etc. But I would NEVER post an ad on ANY website linking to my eBay listings. Simply put, it's not fair to the site owner UNLESS, you make a point o...

PHIShing" Emails

From what I hear, these emails are called "PHISING", and are an obvious attempt to obtain your personal information. EBay has stated that they will NEVER ask for this info via a click-on link. If you need to re-enter or change it you will always have to go to the eBay site as a separate address. How...

QUADRA versus ICOM PW-1

Does anybody have any opinions about which is the better amp, the Yaesu Quadra or the ICOM PW-1? Supposedly they both use the same MRF-150 Motorola FET's so it probably comes down to operating logistics. and personal likes. I'd appreciate hearing from anyone on this subject. Thanks, Charlie. contact...

A Great "SUB-Hobby"

All these alerts about scammers are certainly messing up a new sub-hobby of mine, which is to collect as many of these bogus checks as possible. So far, I have about $30k worth. I was gonna list one on eBay for $20 but my daughter warned me that even if I clearly stated that the check was bogus, I w...

Scam the Scammers!!

Hey, if you guys keep posting all these scam alerts, you're gonna RUIN my new sub-hobby, which is collecting these bogus checks. So far, I've got five of them, worth a tad over $24k. Most of them are really pathetic and look like they were run off on a $39 ink-jet printer. Some of the names are also...

One "Newbie" comment I've heard on two meters when signals aren't quite perfect: "You're full quieting, except for the noise.....! Quadra VS. Icom PW-1

Anybody have any experience comparing the Yaesu Quadra amp with the Icom PW-1? They both apparentlly use the same eight MRF-150 output FETS. (Which curiously, are out of production according to Motorola ??) I've seen the Quadra do over 1200 watts key down, so that puts it in the same class as a pair...

Blown Power Transformer in your HQ-140

You can get a replacemet transformer from Peter Dahl, but it'll probably cost you more than you paid for the radio. You can however, scare up one if you make enough postings on enough websites. Start with "boatanchor" radio sites. More than likely, there are lots of "parts" radios out there with goo...

The Jupiter is a neat radio and promises improvements via the phone etc., but there's just too many negatives about it for me. I've had two of them and had similar experiences with both. Mail Boxes Etc. = RIP-OFF

Amen!!! I can't believe what they charge for packing materials either. For example, a big cardboard box will cost you $15 at those rip-off stores. The UPS counter will sell the same box for $5.00, but you can buy it at any professional packing supply such as "Ship-It" or "BrownCor" for $3.00. If you...

How many times can you sell one radio?

Looks like ole Ronnie Miller has quite a scam going on here since I too sent him $100 on 26 APR 04 for what would appear to be the same radio. eBay listings on QTH.COM

My personal opinion is that, unless you are willing to kick in a little to the site for an auction sale, it is unethical to use this medium to solicit bids on eBay. All of these sites are financed in large part by contributions from users. More so, if you list your ebay auction on several different ...
