Does anybody know how to read the serial number of a FT920??? Cliff

All i can tell you for certain is the first number is yr of model. But this does not hold true for newer Yaesu's.

I searched the net and found...

Position 1 = Last Number of Year Made (unfortunately, it appears Yaesu didn't think about duplicate years like 1995 and 2005)

Position 2 = Month Made
  • C=January
    D=February
    E=March
    F=April
    G=May
    H=June
    I=July
    J=August
    K=September
    L=October
    M=November
    N=December
Position 3 and 4 = Production Run

Position 5, 6, 7 and 8 = Unit Number

So, if your S/N is: 5J020176

5 = 2005 (or 1995 - based on date of production)
J = August
02 = Production Run 2
0176 = Individual Unit Number
